Bespoke Curtains for Apex Window
Ashley Wilde
I was approached by my client Sarah with regards to designing and fitting bespoke Apex window curtains in the master bedroom of their new build home.
I had previously done some small Apex Windows but never any of this scale!
Sarah really wanted some curtains as she just didn’t feel fitted blinds or shutters would give the cosy, homely feel to the room that she was looking for. She also was looking for a way of blocking the harsh sunlight when needed, as the room could get very hot on a sunny day.
I advised Sarah to stick with a reasonably neutral fabric for the curtains as it’s not a window you would choose to change the dressings of often due to the size and overall cost.
A strong patterned fabric could be quite overpowering given the volume of fabric required. After looking through various fabric options, Sarah fell in love with this lovely marble effect design in soft grey and white tones.
With this size of this gable end window, I advised Sarah that four curtains would be far easier to handle than two huge curtains. This option has framed the area beautifully, as well as the double pinch pleat heading which works perfectly against the sloped ceiling. I blackout lined the curtains as a way of protecting the fabric, but more importantly to prevent the room from overheating, which is something my client was finding an issue during the summer months.
This was not an easy window to dress but I do love a challenge!

Testimonial
I cannot thank Katherine enough for the curtains for our Apex Window, they are absolutely beautiful and she did a fantastic job of not only making them but the installation of them too. The curtains have completely transformed the room and have been a huge benefit to stopping the sunlight beaming in, which previously woke us up very early in the morning. Thank you so much Katherine, we love them!
