Provide Window Dressings for New Lounge Extension
Prestigious Textiles & Abraham Moon
When Brenda approached me looking for some new soft furnishings for her new lounge extension, the building work had just commenced. This gave us ample time to look at various fabric choices, taking into consideration what would work with her new sofa and flooring.
She knew she wanted tartan, so Abraham Moon was the first choice we looked at. She liked a few different designs but immediately fell in love with a lovely rich heather tartan. I arranged a site visit to view the area and during that visit, we discussed how to dress the windows required and both felt that this tartan fabric would be overwhelming on such a large area.
My suggestion to Brenda was to do plain fabric roman blinds and use the tartan wool as a pelmet instead, which would still add interest and texture to the room.
Once the building work was completed and the room painted, we arranged an advanced fit to install the pelmet mounting boards which would allow me to get precise measurements ready to start sewing. In total, I had 8 roman blinds to make and 7 pieces of pelmet, 6 of which connected together to form one complete pelmet for the large bay window. I also made 3 scatter cushions for the sofas which helped to tie the whole room together.
The final fitting saw the roman blinds installed and the pelmets attached to the pre-mounted boards, bringing the order to completion.
I was also delighted to supply the large antler pendant light from one of my lighting suppliers. This pendant light was perfect for Brenda’s design scheme and I was able to request the light to have an extra metre of chain and wiring cable above the standard length, as the pendant was being fixed inside a vault in the ceiling.
I was delighted to assist Brenda with the finishing touches to her new lounge and loved to see it transform from the early building stage to completion.
